What We Stand For

Socialist Students is a democractically run, nationwide organization. Membership is free and our members decide what we do and what we stand for. Currently, some of our core demands are:

• No to all top up and tuition fees - free education from nursery to university
• No to cuts and closures of courses, departments and facilities
• Reinstate EMA for all Further Education students at the rate of £60 a week
• Introduce a £5,000 annual living grant for all students
• Fund education publicly and run it democratically at all levels
• Write off all student debt
• Fund affordable, decent quality housing and transport for students
• Decent food at decent prices in canteens for students and education workers
• No to sexism, racism, homophobia and all forms of discrimination
• No to war and occupation
• Defend democratic rights and civil liberties
• No to low pay - raise the minimum wage to the trade union minimum of £6.50 per hour
